Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine

elenorGail Honeyman's novel Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine is a charming novel that shows the society we live in according to Eleanor and all of her quirky idiosyncrasies. Early into the novel, the reader discovers that something quite sinister has happened to Eleanor during her childhood and that she is the way she is out of some form of self-protection. I read this book as Reese's original book club pick and my own book club was reading it. Despite truly feeling for Eleanor, I didn’t love the book as much as I thought I would. It was a fairly easy read and it only took me 2-3 days to finish it. The twist at the end surprised me but didn’t pay off as much as I was hoping and I just didn’t fall in love with Eleanor as much as other people seem to. Eleanor grows on you with all of her oddities in a heartwarming way with everything she has endured but overall I thought the entire book was just ok.
