Cross Her Heart by Sarah Pinborough is a fast-paced psychological thriller that will have you fervently flipping through the pages until you get to the end. Lisa appears to be the perfect mother to Ava but...she has a secret to hide. Her best friend Marilyn is hiding more secrets of her own. When Lisa's past resurfaces with a vengeance, will her and Ava be safe? Will Marilyn stick by her or will she be plagued by secrets of her own?
I honestly loved this book. I had picked it as my September Book of the Month club book and I am so happy that I did. I read it in a couple hours and could not put it down. My heart was beating out of my chest as I flipped through the pages becoming increasingly shocked at every twist and turn. I was trying to predict them in my head while tearing through each chapter and I didn't see a single one of them coming. Pinborough's writing is so brilliant that just when you think you've figured out where the story is going, the next shocking reveal sends you reeling. I especially love an unreliable narrator and this book is constantly switching POV's between Lisa, Ava and Marilyn, which has you constantly on your toes. For lover's of Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, Cross Her Heart delivers one shocking twist after the next.
