The Good Luck Charm by @helenahunting follows Delilah "Lilah" and Ethan, former high school sweethearts. Their relationship abruptly ended when Ethan broke up with Lilah as he was drafted to the NHL and left her completely heartbroken. Eight years later, Lilah is just about divorced and slowly accomplishing her dreams when a family tragedy puts Ethan right back into her life. After nearly a decade of unresolved anger and tension, Lilah does everything she can to avoid Ethan and protect herself from another heartbreak.
As they spend more time together, the tension nears combustable and Lilah starts wondering if she really wants to stay away. While their chemistry is scorching, their history is littered with insecurity and betrayals. Ethan is desperate as ever to keep Lilah in his life no matter what and Lilah is determined to not lose herself in him again. Can they make it work a second time or are they doomed to repeat their past mistakes?
I LOVED this one. I had a really hard day yesterday. And I really couldn't tell you why. I've struggled with depression/mood-disorder-not-otherwise-specified/insert-your-choice-DSM-5-diagnosis here, my entire life. On and off medication. I just couldn't get it together. Thank god for Bentley or I probably wouldn't have gotten out of bed. Tasks like folding laundry or putting the dishes away were just insurmountable. I couldn't do any of it. I did nothing. I laid on the couch all day with my phone and a book. It's one of the reasons I love reading so much. Escaping my own reality and living in someone else's. I had been in a reading rut and romance usually does the trick, so I picked this one up. Thank god I did. It packed all the right amounts of smut, warmth and charm.
My mom always tells me life is comprised of moments. Life will always throw stuff at you but the trick is to find the moments of joy within the chaos. Thank you so much @helenahunting for writing this one. Because of you, for a few hours, I dragged myself out of the darkness and into the light. I found a moment - and it was everything I needed.
What a huge compliment for this book! Wow. I’m so glad it helped you feel better on a day when nothing else could. Reading is amazing for so many reasons.
