How To Walk Away

How To Walk Away by Katherine Center begins by following Margaret. Her boyfriend Chip is becoming a pilot and wants to surprise her. Margaret is terrified of flying but in trying to be flexible agrees to go with him for a ride. Chip proposes and Margaret is so excited about their future ahead of them...until the plane starts heading for some unpredictable weather...and then crashes.

Margaret is left forever changed as she fights to get her life back in the hospital. Her mother is telling her all she has to do it will herself better. Her father is her biggest support. Chip isn’t there in her time of need. And her sister reappears after disappearing for three years. Then there’s her physical therapist Ian. Tough and no-nonsense, he pushes her in ways she wasn’t even aware she needed which both excites and terrifies her..

Oh my god I LOVED THIS BOOK. I can’t believe I hadn’t read it until now. Being a nurse especially I loved watching Maggie’s journey to recovery. Seeing how each of the people in her life reacted and responded. Who doubled down for her in her time of need. How Ian becomes one of the high points in her day and imperative to her recovery. It was everything I didn’t know I needed in a book. I finished this almost a week ago but just needed to sit with it for awhile before formulating my review. It is an emotional, sensitive, humorous, uplifting, devastating and romantic ride that I just absolutely adored and hope you do too!
