Not The Girl You Marry

Not The Girl You Marry by Andie J Christopher follows Hannah and Jack in a reimagined millennial version of How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days.

Hannah is trying to be taken seriously but is fed up with all men and tired of swiping on apps. Jack is a serial monogamist who thinks he’s the perfect boyfriend but for one reason or another his girlfriends keep leaving him. They meet at a bar and there’s some initial chemistry but Hannah is doubtful that he’s different than all the other guys….

Jack is trying to advance as a political reporter but has made his name writing fluff pieces. In order to have a shot at breaking a high-profile political piece he makes a deal with his boss for one final fluff piece: Hannah is looking to take on more high-profile weddings but her boss is doubtful she’s able because she’s so cynical when it comes to love. She also makes a deal with her boss while she interacts with Jack more and more. They both are starting to sense that this could be something real but will it all blow up when secrets and ulterior motives are revealed?

I really enjoyed this one! The banter was so funny and it had a great blend of story and steam! It was just what I hope for when I pick up a contemporary! (Oh and the audio is also great!) I think if you know that it’s a retelling of HTLAGITD like the cover says you will really enjoy it! I knew that going in and it let me just enjoy the story unfolding and watch how Jack and Hannah grow together and begin to fall in love! It was a quick one day read that romcom lovers will def enjoy!!
