An Alaskan Christmas

An Alaskan Christmas by Jennifer Snow starts with Erika. A busy surgeon in Anchorage, she has no time for relaxation or any kind of personal life. Her patients are everything and she’s determined to give them her best at all times. Just when she’s about to start clinical trials for a new drug she’s been researching, her world crashes and she learns she’s being forced to take a “mandatory vacation” away from the hospital for 2 weeks.

She heads to her home town of Wild River, Alaska – two hours away from Anchorage and incredibly remote. She reconnects with her best friend Cassie but they haven’t exactly stayed close over the last decade. Then there’s Cassie’s brother Reed…

They survived being lost in the woods together as young children but never particularly liked one another. But now Reed has definitely grown up and is now working as the lead on Wild River’s Search & Rescue squad. He gives the city slicker a hard time and Erika DEFINITELY tries to deny feeling anything other than disinterest towards him. After all, she’s a busy surgeon and all she needs to do is survive these two weeks and get back to the hospital. There’s no time in her busy life for love…

Okay I LOVED this one. I’m not sure if it’s the Alaskan backdrop lately but I am so drawn to these small town kinds of books. Their banter is GREAT! The steam is GREAT! I loved it. I loved watching Erika start to crack and weigh out the importance of love and family versus successful career. I LOVED the small town of Wild River and all the secondary characters as well. I’m anxiously awaiting book 2 in this world and can’t wait to see who it will be about! (I have a guess – I hope!) For lovers of small town romances especially with an Alaskan backdrop – add this one to your TBRs immediately and warm your heart this holiday season!
